General Information

What are the guidelines for the event?
The guidelines are set out in the Alcohol Permit Guidelines on this website. Review these guidelines with your alcohol service provider and food service provider.
Who may serve alcohol and food?
Qualified alcohol and food service providers may serve alcohol and food if they provide the information requested in the application.
  • For events occurring on the University of Idaho Campus, the University reserves the right to require the use of Auxiliary Dining, which is a qualified, licensed catering service for the service of alcoholic beverages. Auxiliary Dining complies with the licensing, indemnity and insurance requirements stated in the application.
  • Events not utilizing Auxiliary Dining as an alcohol service provider will require your alcohol service provider to provide the licensing, indemnity and insurance requirements in listed in the Application.
  • All events at which alcohol is served also require food service. Your food service provider must provide the licensing, indemnity and insurance requirements in listed in the Application.
  • Events taking place outside a Public Building on Campus will require a Privatization letter. Please call
    Auxiliary Services at (208) 885-5500, or email us at alcohol-admin@uidaho.edu for information.
Who approves the application?
The application will be reviewed by the Assistant Vice President of Auxiliary Services and approved by the President. Your event cannot take place without this Presidential Approval. Alcohol at this event cannot
take place without this Presidential approval, and your Alcohol Application must arrive at the President’s office
at least 2 weeks prior the event.

How much time should I allow for the approval process?
A fully completed application form and all required documents need to be received at least thirty (30) business days prior to the event. We cannot consider incomplete applications or applications submitted less than 30 business days prior to the event. Auxiliary Services will notify the applicant via email when the application is approved.
